and fog made it so difficult to see that the chp slowed down to keep drivers safe. cal trans is keeping a close eye along eye 1. it it has chronic problems during heavy rain and it is not the only one either. heather ishimaru is live in daly city where the flooding is a worry there as well. heather? >> reporter: dan, this is the daly city vet that was inundated by mud a couple weeks ago. here the slide covered the road. down on highway 1 cal trans is worried about the road itself sliding away. the coast can be as beautiful as it is treacherous. heavy rains called forecloser than usual monitoring -- for closer than usual monitoring of highway 1 that is prone to rock slides and worse. in 1995 and in 2006 the hillside separated from itself and it headed for the water below calling months long closures. the locals know rain can take away their north-south route between pacifica and monterra. >> i have seen that through earthquakes and i have seen it be closed for a year. i have seen everybody get rerouted up thine 2 and down 280. it wouldn't be the first time it has happened. >> cal
